Software Engineers – Medical Device Software

Ardos – Aarhus, Denmark preferred, with flexibility for the right candidates

Build the future of AI-powered cancer treatment

Ardos is an ambitious AI MedTech startup redefining radiotherapy through real-time dose guidance. Our core product, DoseTracker, turns motion data into real-time insight into how radiation dose is actually delivered to moving anatomy — enabling a new generation of intelligent, adaptive cancer treatment.

We are backed by strong investors and are developing DoseTracker together with leading radiotherapy centres in Europe, the US, and Australia. Our platform combines real-time data processing, physics-based dose calculation, and advanced algorithmic decision support to bring intelligence, speed, and precision into cancer treatment workflows.

We are now expanding our core team and looking for 2–3 exceptional Software Engineers with a builder mindset: people who want responsibility, influence, and the chance to shape both a product and a company from an early stage.

This is not just another software job. You will help take DoseTracker from advanced research software toward a certified clinical product — solving complex real-world problems and building technology intended for use in real patient treatments.

If you want your work to have global impact, we would love to hear from you.

The role

As a Software Engineer at Ardos, you will work closely with clinical experts, medical physicists, researchers, and a small but ambitious development team.

You will help design, implement, test, document, and validate medical device software for real-time dose tracking in radiotherapy. The work spans full-stack development, including real-time data processing, numerical computation, user interfaces, system architecture, performance optimization, and integration with clinical workflows.

This is not a narrow coding role. You will help shape the product, the architecture, and the engineering culture as the company grows. Roles are not rigidly defined, and there will be strong opportunities to shape your own responsibilities based on your interests and strengths.

You will also contribute to building software in a regulated medical device environment, where quality, traceability, testing, and documentation are part of creating safe and reliable technology for clinical use.

What you will do

You will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain DoseTracker and adjacent software modules
  • Work across the stack, from real-time data processing and numerical computation to user interfaces and workflow integration
  • Contribute to system architecture, technology choices, and technical decision-making
  • Build robust, testable, and maintainable software for a safety-critical medical environment
  • Collaborate with clinical experts to translate real clinical needs into software solutions
  • Contribute to requirements, risk analysis, verification, validation, and traceability
  • Document software design, architecture, tests, risks, and technical decisions
  • Support documentation required for regulatory approval, including FDA clearance and CE marking
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and continuous improvement of development processes
  • Help us use modern development tools, including AI-assisted workflows, to work smarter and improve software quality

What you bring

We are looking for engineers who are curious, structured, and motivated by complex real-world problems.

We expect that you have:

  • A degree in software engineering, computer science, physics, engineering, mathematics, or similar
  • Strong programming skills in C#, Python, C++, or similar
  • Willingness to work in a primarily C#/.NET-based codebase
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, testing, and code quality
  • Experience with Git-based development, preferably using GitLab or similar platforms
  • Experience working in a team-based development environment
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation and communicate technical decisions
  • Motivation to work in a quality-focused and regulated development environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
  • Interest in the intersection of software, physics, and healthcare
  • Fluency in English

It is a plus if you have

  • Experience with regulated software development
  • Familiarity with standards such as IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, MDR, or FDA requirements
  • Experience with medical device software, health technology, or other safety-critical systems
  • Experience documenting software requirements, architecture, tests, risks, or verification activities
  • Experience with real-time systems, data processing, numerical computing, or optimization
  • Experience with parallel computing, GPU acceleration, or performance-critical applications
  • Experience with C#/.NET, Python, WPF, cloud/backend systems, or modern UI frameworks
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, static analysis, or DevOps practices
  • Experience using AI coding assistants, agents, or workflow automation to improve development efficiency and quality
  • Interest in radiotherapy, medical physics, imaging, or clinical software

What we offer

At Ardos, you will join early enough to have real influence.

We offer:

  • A key role in developing novel medical device software with real clinical impact
  • A technically challenging product involving real-time systems, physics, optimization, UX, and regulatory requirements
  • A dynamic startup environment with short decision paths and high ownership
  • Significant influence on architecture, engineering practices, and product direction
  • The opportunity to help take software from research-grade prototype to certified clinical technology
  • Close collaboration with leading radiotherapy centres in Europe, the US, and Australia
  • Flexibility to shape your role as the team grows
  • Strong opportunities for professional and technical development
  • A mission-driven team working to improve cancer treatment
